Two new Open Water Sea Swim events have been added to the global calendar. These events will take place July 6-7 and October 26-27, 2013. In both cases there will be a 1.5km race and a 5km race, over a Saturday and Sunday.
The location is Carlisle Bay, a conveniently located venue in close proximity to hotels, restaurants, shopping and night-life. Carlisle Bay is a picturesque, crescent shaped bay with warm, calm, clear waters bordered by a long stretch of white sand. The Bay is a favourite for local open water swimmers and as well as snorkelers and paddle-boarders. The Events are designed to attract open water swimmers & tri-athletes from across the globe to swim and enjoy Barbados with family and friends. Non-swimming partners, friends, spouses and children can all enjoy these events.
Who is SwimBarbadosVacations (SBV)?
SwimBarbadosVacations has been formed by Zary Evelyn, former National Water Polo player and now avid recreational open water swimmer. His wife, Kristina, is assisting with promoting the event and organising other activities to complement the swims. Chris & Peter Gibbs, brothers and two veteran open water swimmers (Chris swam the Channel, Peter swam Lake Ontario) are well-known on the local and regional scene having been involved in triathlons, swimming and water polo for more than 25 years. Andrew Kirby, President of the BASA (Barbados Amateur Swimming Association), also a former competitive swimmer is another member of the planning team.
The ultimate goal is to establish an annual open water swim event and share the enjoyment of open water swimming in Barbados with the world.
SBV has partnered with several hotels near the swim venue which can be accessed by checking our website for the partner hotels. Full details on the event, age groups, prizes and other details can be found on our web site.
