This swim takes place right in downtown Austin. The course follows 3 kilometers in Lady Bird Lake from the Texas Rowing Center (next to Austin High School) under the Pflueger Bridge past Auditorium Shores in the shadow of the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue through downtown Austin to finish at the Austin Rowing Club. This lake was originally called Towne Lake when it was formed by the damming of the Colorado River, but was changed to honor Lady Bird Johnson. Lady Bird Johnson worked tirelessly to transform Lady Bird Lake (aka Town Lake) into a usable recreation area. The swim will be a water start next to the dock at Texas Rowing Center and an in-water finish at the Austin Rowing Club dock at Walker Creek Boathouse. The event is limited to 400 participants, so don’t wait to register!
