The 3rd Jubilee River Swim
sponsored by blueseventy

Sunday 8th June, 2014, appox 9.30am-10.30am starts

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Back for a third time, this 10km long distance swim takes in the whole length of the Jubilee River, starting near Maidenhead and finishes adjacent to the Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Eton. You can cover the 10km as an individual, or as part of a relay team of 4. The 3 weirs along the river make for the perfect relay change over points and for our famous feed stations. SWIM MAP

Race HQ and Parking will be near the Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Eton. At TVAC, there'll be refreshments, toilets and showers available. Directions for TVAC can be found HERE From there we'll bus you to your start area.NB Spectators and relay swimmers will need to be self sufficient in following the towpath all the way to the finish.

The Jubilee River Swim will not be wetsuit compulsory, however if you do intend to swim without a wetsuit we'd request you contact us via andy@mysportingtimes.com with a brief overview of your swim experience.

The water temperature is likely to be in the region of 15-16 degrees at this time of year, with weather conditions obviously influencing.

As standard, we'll be setting you all off in groups of similar abilities to swim your way to the finish as you choose to - race, take it easy, it's upto you. We'll also be offering a 'social start' for those who wish to take their time a little more! We recommend this group for this who anticipate taking more than 4 hours - you'll re-group at each weir and swim more as a bunch. You should enter as normal and we'll ask for your decision on this two weeks before the swim.

With more people taking part in river swim events, it's worthwhile reading a recent report on the potential dangers of river swimming HERE We work closely with the Environment Agency and Public Health departments, getting up to date information on water safety. Swimming in the Jubilee River is as safe as swimming in any river nationwide. We will, of course, be taking action to ensure you're swim is as safe as it can be.

There will be a 5hr cut off for the swim.

Whilst registering we'll ask you to give an estimated swim time - please base this upon non tidal or flow assisted conditions.
