Feedback from last years event:

"Thanks for the great event at Loch Eck. Was my first attempt at open water swimming, & will be back next year hopefully increasing my distance to the 5k."

"Thanks to you and all involved with today's Event at Loch Eck. Great organisation and company. Well done to all. Looking forward to next year by which time I should have recovered!!!"

"Thank you so much for organising such a fabulous event at the Loch Eck Swim Fest at the weekend!  I loved it - it was well worth the trip down from Aberdeen."

"An excellent and challenging event. Safety cover was second to none - very reassuring in the difficult weather conditions."

"Had a great, if challenging, time at my first open water swim event. Found it way tougher than I had expected. However, the reassurance and helpful words of support and encouragement from the safety boat crew, helped me to relax and eventually begin to enjoy my swim. Can't wait for next years season to begin and hope to end it with another trip to Loch Eck and a slightly faster time than this year. Thanks to the organisers for a wonderful, if cold, day."

University of Okoboji, 3.5 Mile Swim from Gull Point to Pikes Point @ University of Okoboji, 3.5 Mile Swim from Gull Point to Pikes Point
Aug 3 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

This is a hard core swim. Distance is great enough that you can not see from point to point.

Kayak escort is mandatory for this event. You must have a kayak and paddler with you. Kayaks are provided for those who can not provide their own. Up to 8 boats.

Course is marked by a series of bouys as far as they go because lake depth is 130 feet at deepest.

Safety is monitored by Lake Patrol and Lake Fire Rescue and DNR management.

1 PWC boat, Two Patrol Craft, One Fire Rescue Boat: all follow the spread of swimmers and paddlers.

Serious consideration for swimmers on this course is that they are fit. Endure a long swim with lots of potential chop, as well as wind and needing to account for serious wind drift on the course.

If there is Rain Delay on Saturday this event will go on next AM Sunday.
